Initially, you have to pass the requirements to be able to serve the Army. Enrolling with a GED
Can I join with the military with a ged? This is one of the commonest questions asked by those who want to enlist in the Army. Candidates with GED are not accepted in many regions of the country; however, it is a known fact that the army has the right, to put aside some disqualifications and to permit enlistment, if it is in the best interest of service and the candidate. It is important to know that when the army does accept GED, the candidate should score approximately 50 on ASVAB. Also, you can avail of bonuses in the army, only if you have 15 credit hours in college, otherwise you will not be eligible for it. GED plus program
You are eligible to join the Guard under the GRD Plus Program offered by the Army National Guard, if you have not completed your diploma in high school. The GED Plus is the residential school at the National Guard Professional Education Center in Camp Robinson, North Little Rock, Arkansas. Currently, there are two classes which is on the basis of the Armed Forces Qualification Test or AFQT. The lengths of each class equal 15 as well as 22 days. During this time, the students are offered experience of basic military training and a structured educational environment.
Qualifying for GED Plus Program
To be eligible for the GED Plus program, the candidate has to meet requirements like:-
- A minimum score of 31 on AFQT or the Armed Forces Qualification Test is needed.
- The candidate should have a certificate verifying the completion of ninth grade.
- Application for enlistment in the Army should be sent only after six months of leaving high school.
- The candidate should be aged 18 and above and should be qualified to revisit high school to finish diploma.
- The candidate should be qualified for every enlistment incentives.
- The candidate should meet the moral and medical enlistment criteria.
It is to be noted that when a candidate joins under the GRD Plus program, he will be unable to take part in the army’s Split Training Option or STO. The candidate might not be sent for the Initial Entry Training till the completion of the GED Plus program.
